FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BY CROM! ABLAZE BRINGING YOU ROBERT E. HOWARD'S FAMOUS CIMMERIAN UNCENSORED!

JULY 24, PORTLAND, OR – ABLAZE announced today that Robert E. Howard’s Conan will be brought to life in a series of uncensored comic book/graphic novel stories adapting some of the best adventures of the legendary Cimmerian. These stories portray the true Conan…unrestrained, violent, and sexual…just as Robert E. Howard intended!

Robert E. Howard’s Conan character first appeared in the pages of Weird Tales Magazine. He contributed 17 Conan stories to that publication from 1932 to 1936. The Conan stories were not collected until much later with the rise in popularity of fantasy in the 1960s. The majority of the Conan stories fell into the public domain in the 1960s due to non-filing of required copyright renewals. Outside of the United States all of the original 17 Conan stories are in the public domain. ABLAZE will be releasing adaptations of the Conan stories that are in the public domain in the USA.

Queen of The Black Coast is adapted in script form by Jean-David Morvan and beautifully illustrated Pierre Alary, with striking color work by Sedyas. The Cimmerian series editors are Patrice Louinet and Jean-David Morvan. Patrice, a leading expert on Conan, worked with the writer/artist teams, ensuring this series remained faithful to Howard’s stories and displayed all the colorful pageantry of the Hyborian Age. Louinet added, “Howard, whose words lend themselves to graphic storytelling, comes alive in these adaptations!”

In Queen of the Black Coast #1, Conan is pursued for killing a judge, and finds refuge on a merchant ship…but soon after setting sail, the Cimmerian and his new companions face a threat: the legendary Bêlit, self-proclaimed Queen of the Black Coast! First published in 1934 in Weird Tales, this Conan classic is also a marvelous entry point to the Conan series.

ABLAZE’s The Cimmerian: Queen of the Black Coast Issue 1 will be solicited in the Aug 2019 issue of Diamond Previews for Oct 2019 shipping items, with an on-sale date of 10/9/19. Issue 1 will feature all new cover art by Jason Metcalf, Mirka Andolfo, and Ed Benes, as well as Pierre Alary. Retailers can reach out to Diamond or ABLAZE regarding special offers and promotions for the series, including retailer exclusive covers.
